In America, the civil law IS Roman Law.
The Constitution contains Latin phrases because our laws are brutal Roman laws.

Roman law is sometimes brutal.
Roman law allows coercion. For example, you are forced into court. You are forced to testify. You can be held in jail as a material witness.
Once you are coerced — You have no right to petition government for redress of grievances.
Christ delivered us from the laws of Caesar.
But you didn’t want to be free. You wanted the benefits of being fed by your master. Until you “degenerate again into perfect savages and find once more a master and monarch.”” Then you used Martial Law of the 14th Amendment to beg for a master.
Protection draws subjection. Protectio trahit subjectionem.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
