Satan tempted Christ by offering all the kingdoms of the world “if you will bow down and worship me.” (Matthew 4, Luke 4). Satan offers YOU this same test of ultimate allegiance to worldly benefits. Christ refuses a worldly shortcut to power because his kingdom, and yours, is not of this world.
Allegiance to God alone is commanded within God’s Ten Commandments. It is the essence of the First and Second Commandments. Thou shalt not bow down to false gods, nor serve them, according to the Second Commandment. Yes, there are many false gods according to First Corinthians 8:5. They all demand worship. All you have to do is bow down to them, just once. *

Christ commands his followers to NOT have a top-down government. Luke 22:25-26. Don’t be tempted into elevating manmade (graven) hierarchies above the King of Kings. Todays’ governments cannot recognize Christ as sovereign. Don’t worship them.
During Christ’s time, Christians lived under brutal Roman martial law. Christians stood fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has set us free, Galatians 5. What was this all about? Christ, and John the Baptist, kept announcing that the Kingdom of God is at hand. At the Last Supper, Christ bestowed upon his Apostles a kingdom. Luke 22:29.
And no, the Romans 13 higher authority is not proclaiming a manmade government is superior. The same Apostle Paul who gave us the definition of legitimate authority in Romans 13, tells us in First Corinthians 6:12 that he will not be brought under the power of anyone.
Don’t fall for Satan’s temptations, just as Christ refused temptation. Don’t bow down to them, and that includes all forms of salute. A salute is the assuming of a physical position initiated by the inferior toward the superior. Americans hold the truth that all are created equal. Do not salute an equal. This includes all physical salutations.
One only salutes superiors. Raise your right hand, kneel, bow, genuflect, curtsy, prostrate, obeisance, kowtow, or stoop. Do homage, deference, lick the boots … etc. Romans 11:10 uses the phrase “bow down their back”. Even standing when a judge enters a courtroom. Actions speak louder than words.
